NEW DELHI (PTI): India, Thailand and Myanmar account for 95% of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) infection in south east Asia, says a World Health Organization (WHO) report.

Although the AIDS pandemic in south-east Asia is still in its early Stages, trends in these three countries indicate a “grave situation and a warning for the future” Says the latest AIDS update by WHO.

The update on AIDS situation in the region, and elimination of Leprosy and Malaria, would be discussed at a WHO regional committee meeting for south east Asia, to be held in Kathmandu from September 7-13. The meeting would be addressed by WHO director-general, Dr. Hiroshi Nakajima.
