CALCUTTA, India, Reuter: Former Mr. Universe Manohar Aica has come out of retirement at the age of 75 to bid for the Indian bantamweight bodybuilding tile.
The 1.47 meter, Aich said he feared the bodybuilders association would bar him on grounds of age from representing West Bengal at the National championships in the Western town of Ahmedabad on Friday.
“So I asked them and they agreed. That is when I started training seriously. I am still very strong and muscular”, the former circus strongman told reporters as he headed for the contest.
Aich said he quit competitive bodybuilding in 1960 after winning a bronze medal in the Mr. Universe contest, the title he won in 1952.

Chen, the world’s third ranking player, beat South Korea’s Yoo NamKyu 2118; 2113; 2113 to give China a total of four out of seven titles in the tournament, with South Korea winning the other three.
North Korea suddenly pulled out of the Asian Table Tennis Championships on Friday and accused the Japanese government of forcing the players from Pyongyang to leave a reception held in their honour.
Japanese officials said the players constituted “political activity” and said they had only been allowed into Japan on condition that they restrict themselves to sports activities.
