MOSCOW, Reuter: England Remained on course for a semifinal place in the men’s hockey European cup after a sparkling 41 win against Belgium today put them at the top of the group A standings.

A brilliant goal by Sean Kerly in the second minute, when he dived full length to touch home a cross from Steve Batchelor, started the fireworks.

By the interval, England had built up/a 40 lead but they allowed complacency to set in during the second half, conceding a goal early on.

They might have conceded another in the dying minutes had Belgium’s captain, Robert Gucassof, not put a penalty stroke on to a post.

A wonderful piece of artistry by Taco Van Den Honert int he 67th minute gave the Netherlands a 10 victory against Spain to keep them in second place behind England, who have a better goal difference.
