Jalandhar, India — Election in two Jalandhar City Constituencies was countermanded as a_ sequence to the death of Congress (I) Candidate Gurdial Saini and an independent candidate who had rebelled from the Congress. Gurdial Saini was a member of the dissolved Assembly.
Gurdial Saini, it may be recalled, was injured when four unknown assailants entered his house and opened fire on those attending a meeting there. In the attack Mr. D.D. Khullar, district President of Congress (I) was killed on the spot and Mr. Saini was seriously injured.
