LONDON, England: Dr.Jagjit Singh Chohan, President Khalistan government in exile, welcomed the release of five Sikh High Priests including Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode who was arrested by the Indian intelligence from Manila Airport after he was refused reentry into Britain in December, 1984.

Dr. Chohan made these comments during a telephone interview with our staff reporter. He said Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode is fully committed to secure freedom for Sikhs and his statement “Freedom within or without India” only reflects that he has not been in touch with the realities of the situation because of his long internment. “Khalistan can only be outside of India”, he declared.

Dr. Jagjit Singh Chohan further stated that Sikhs should maintain the pressure on Indian government to bring them round to negotiate on Khalistan. “We wholeheartedly extend our felicitions to all the High Priests on their release and reaffirm our commitments to secure the free state of Khalistan,” he said. Concluding the telephone interview, Dr. Chohan said that the government has been forced to release the five High Priests and some 40 odd Jodhpur detainees out to the persistence, resilience and steadfastness of our young men. “Now our real fight starts,” he said, “The second phase of. Khalistan movement starts right now and we shall fight it out to its logical conclusion”.
