NEW YORK, NY: —Gur charan Singh is to be the new head of the Punjab Human Rights Organization in America. This was revealed at a meeting at Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond’ Hill on October 15 which was chaired by D.S. Gill the General Secretary of the PHRO.

The meeting was held to discuss the opening of a branch of the PHRO in the US. Similar branches have been opened in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Amarjit Singh Grewal Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sikh Cultural Society, said that wherever he had gone, Sikhs had suggested the name of Dr. Gurcharan Singh to head this body. Dr. Singh is the Chairman of the Department of International Relations at the Manhattan Marymount College here.

Jagjit Singh Mangat the president of Sikh Cultural Society, gave the assurance that the society would provide whatever help necessary to publish and circulate the publications of the organization.

Nazar Singh the president of the PHRO in Canada was also present at the meeting. The names of other office bearers of the organization are expected to be announced soon.
