DELANO, Calif ; Dr. Gursharan Singh Saini has been elected the Vice President of Delano Lions International Club, He had joined this club only a year ago. The club is very active in supporting local community affairs.
Dr. Saini told World Sikh News that he finds his association with the club “enjoyable” and also “informative”. Membership of such associations, he feels, provides the opportunity to introduce and explain to the local community Sikh culture and religion. It also helps to earn recognition for Sikhs among other communities.
Dr. Saini has also been elected Director of the Delano Chamber of Commerce from among the candidates; He feels that Sikhs should participate in the Service Clubs of their respective areas in order to establish healthy rapport with others as also to express their views.
Dr. Saini married to Dr. Hardip K. Saini who is a dentist. The couple has two children, eight and five years old. During his student days also Dr. Saini distinguished himself in various fields He was President of the Central Student Association of the Medical College, Amritsar and was active spokesman.
He participated in the rest of India Hockey Eleven in 1966. Besides playing in the University Championship he has the distinction of playing in such prestigious tournaments as Nehru Memorial Cup, New Delhi and Gold Cup in ‘Amritsar.
