PATIALA: While complimenting the remarks of Bill Clinton regarding the violation of human Fights in Punjab a senior dissident leader Bir Devinder Singh and former chief Whip of the Congress legislator condemned the antidemocratic actions of the Punjab Government in preventing them from holding a conference at Ghanauri Kalan in Sherpur police station in Barnala on March 18. Bir Devinder Singh claimed that he along withover200 pany works reached the venue at about 11:30 a.m. but was prevented to proceed towards Ghanauri He said that a large number of villagers joined them to express their protest against Beant Singh and the police. They were lathi-charged as they attempted to remove the barricades to reach the conference venue. However they succeeded in teaching the venue Bir Devinder Singh further stated that it was a serious violation of civil rights Even Congressmen were not being their feelings.
