CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court last week directed the Majitha police to bring on record an encounter and photographs related to it as father of a missing Mohali youth apprehends his death in the encounter.

Mohinder Singh, are silent of Mohali had earlier sent a telegram to the court saying his son was picked up the previous day by the Punjab police while he was getting his Maruti van repaired. On that day, another youth, Sukhdev Singh, also from Mohali was taken away by the same police party. The telegram was considered as the habeas corpus petition and the Mohali police filed an affidavit that they never picked up Jugraj Singh, he was never wanted in any case and was not killed in any encounter.

In the present petition, Mohinder Singh, through his Attorney Mr.s Rubina N, Singh and Mr. Harshinder Singh, brought to the notice of the court that on January 16, 1955, SHO, Mohali police station was directed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gurpreet Singh Gill, to register a DDR regarding abduction of the son of the petitioner.

The S.H.O the petitioner said, recorded the D.D.R. and also got his signatures, now when the petitioner went to obtain a copy of the D.D.R., the in charge, M.H.C. told him that there was such report recorded

It meant that the concerned S.H.O did not record any D.D.R. and must have recorded the complaint in some fake register. It was also submitted that the next day, an encounter was shown at Majitha in which a person identified as Sukhdey Singh and a maruti van was involved. The petitioner apprehended his son might have been eliminated in the false encounter or may be in the custody of the Punjab police.
