ROHTAK, Mr. E. M. S. Namboodiripad, General Secretary, Communist Party of India (Marxist) has appealed to the people to defeat Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and his Congress party in the coming Lok Sabha elections to save the democracy and the unity and integrity of the country.

Addressing a KisanMazdoor tally at Chhotu Ram park here today, he said that communal for ces would succeed in dividing the nation into pieces if Congress party returned to power again. He asked the people to vote against the corrupt Rajiv government and communal forces. He held the late Mr. Nehru and Mrs Indira Gandhi for the present situation. He said that wrong policies of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi has led the country into the darkness.

Mr. Namboodiripad warned the people against the Ramshila poojan program being orgased in the country and said that certain elements had been forcing the minorities to leave the country so that their dream to build Hindu Rashtra succeeded. This, he said, was a dangerous move to divide the country.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Harki shan Singh Surjeet, President, Kisan Sabha, said the Panchayat Raj and Nagarpalika Bills were political stunts of the Congress party. He said that Mr. Devi Lal had been running a coalition government in the State with the communal party like the BJP but no non Congress government could be formed at the Centre without the Leftist forces.

Earlier, the rally, in a resolution appealed to the people to lodge their protest against the Ramshila poojan function. The rally also demanded a judicial enquiry into the police firing on the workers of BST factory at Ganaur (Sonepat).

The rally was addressed by Mr. Vinay Krishan Chaudhary, Dep uty Chief Minister, West Bengal, Mr. T.K. Krishnan, Cooperative Minister, Kerala, Mr.s Godawari Parulekar, Mr. Raghbir Singh Hooda, Secretary State Committee of the CPM, Mr. Pirthivi Singh Gorkhpuria, Secretary of the Ki san Sabha, Haryana, Mr. Harpal Singh, MLA, and Mr. Inderjeet Singh, President, CITU, Haryana.
