BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister of Orissa and an important ruling party member Birju Patnaik has said that in the event of the National Front government collapsing there is a possibility of Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress(I) forming a new government with the help of the CPM.
“If the B.J.P. withdraws support from the V.P.Singh government on the Ram JanambhoomiBabri Masjid issue, the possibility of the president inviting the Congress (I) to constitute a new government cannot be ruled out”, Mr. Patnaik said in an interview to the Oriya daily, “Samaj”, published Monday.
The CPI(M) is also likely to support the Congress (I) to form the government if such a development takes place, but the B.J.P. will not gain anything out of it, he said adding the party (B.J.P.) will not gain from such a move but suffer loss
