CHANDIGARH: A constable of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) has been arrested by a team of the CIA staff, for his involvement in series of armed robberies in the city in the last three years. The arrested constable, Baljit Singh, is from the seventh battalion of the PAP, Jalandhar, and was deployed in the city from 1988 to 1995 as a personal security guard of an advocate, Manjit Singh Khera. Addressing the media persons here, the Inspector General of Police R.P. Singh, said that the robberies had been committed by Baljit with the help of his two absconding accomplices, Rajwinder and Gurdas, one of whom is a constable with the Jalandhar police. All the accused are in their late twenties.
