Tam writing on behalf of the World Sikh Organization, requesting your assistance in determining the whereabouts of Mr. Jaswant Singh Khalra, General Secretary of the Human Rights Wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal in India.
According to the enclosed press release, Mr. Khalra, who met with a member of my staff during a recent congressional trip to India, was arrested at his home in Amritsar, in the state of Punjab, on September 6. His whereabouts, as well as the charges against him, are unknown at this time.
