Chandigarh — Mr. Ram Lubhaya, a congress (I) leader of Tarn Taran was killed by unknown assailants. The assailants came to his shop on a scooter and disappeared after shooting him. This is the first case of violence after Akalis took over in Punjab. Meanwhile government of Punjab has, through a policy statement reiterated its determination to keep Punjab as an integral part of India. Governor Punjab in his address to the Legislators outlined his government’s policy. The government he said would give top priority to the implementation of the RajivLongowal accord signed in July. He also said that Akalis had expressed sorrow at the assassination of India’s former Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
