ROPAR: Mr. Jagmeet Singh Brar, president of the’ Tiwari faction of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, on June 24, announced that his party would contest all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state during the ensuing general election. He said he was also ready to make seat adjustment with the CPI, CPI (M) and other likeminded political parties except BJP, BSP and the Congress Party, Jed by Beant Singh. Addressing a press conference at the Canal Rest House here after attending the party workers’ meeting, Bra clarified that he could also make adjustment with the Akali Dal if it does not support militancy in the state and was ready to work for Hindu Sikh unity and the welfare of minorities, He said that his party had enrolled more than five lakh members and had received rousing support from Punjabis. Brar said that he would announce the party’s election manifesto within three months which will include is~ sues relating to transfer of Chandigarh, inclusion of Punjabi speaking areas in Punjab, more power for the state, full share in river waters and due status to the mother tongue in Punjab and in the adjoining states. He further said that his party would watch the interest of minorities including Hindus.
