CHANDIGARH India: ‘A Congress (I) leader and a migrant laborer were among the six people killed while the security forces arrested nine freedom fighters and their supporters in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Unknown assailants attacked a migrant laborer with sharp edged weapons in Sainpur village in Kapurthala district on Saturday. The injured laborer later succumbed to injuries.
Two intruders from Pakistan were killed in separate encounter in Ferozepur and Amritsar districts.
A man Bukkan Singh was shot dead by some undented’ people near Bharan village under the Malanwa police station in Ferozepur district. The victim was reported missing since the last five days.
Mr. Verka, general secretary of the Amritsar District Congress — Committee (rural) was gunned down by an unspecified number of armed persons at his native village Verka, on the outskirts of the city ‘on Saturday.
The assailants forced their entry into the house of the victim and! Opened fire killing him on the spot.
