NEW DELHI(PTI): Members in Lok Sabha, the Lower House of Indian Parliament Aug.21 ex pressed concern over the “harassment and discrimination” of Indian workers, mostly from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, by their employers and police in Kuwait and demanded intervention of the government to ensure their safe return home. Ramesh Chennithala (Cong-I) and Kadambur RJanardhanan (AIADMK) referred to newspaper reports from the Gulf published Saturday about Indian workers refuge in Indian embassy following harassment and demanded a government reaction. The reports had said that workers had alleged that they were “fisted” in the kidneys and cars and kicked and beaten with belts” when they wanted to go home at the end of the two year job contract. Six workers were detained in the company they worked for.
