SAN FRANCISCO: Guru ‘Granth Sahib Foundation, Inc. arranged a ‘Special Kirtan Darbar for the first time in San Francisco Bay Area on ‘Saturday, October 22, 1994 (710 pm) in Sikh Temple Hayward. The Entire congregation present appreciated this rare performance by three ‘highly experienced and nationally renowned Ragi Jathas led by Prof, Darshan Singh Ji Khalsa (former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib), Principal Dayal Singh Ji (of Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib) and Bhai Inderjit Singh Ji Tulsi (of Hayward Gurdwara Sahib), All of them ‘cited Gurbani Kinan in the original Classical Ragas as written in Guru Granth Sahib. The name of each Raga and meaning of the Shabad was ‘very well explained by the three Master Musicians for the benefit of all ‘those who were not conversant with this kind of devotional singing. The atmosphere was sober, somber and spiritual while the devotional hymns sung in different classical fagas touched every one’s heart and Soul. The general opinion was that such an event should be repeated ‘More often in future. After the program the Langar Sewa was offered ‘by Pritinder Singh Arora and his dear wife Maninder Kaur Arora.
