CHANDIGARH India: Chiranjeev Milkha Singh has done it again. This 17yearold son of international Milkha Singh, has won a gold and a silver medal in the Asian Golf Championships that concluded at Manila.

A Chiranjee, who has been showing good form, gave a grand performance to emerge the Asian champion in the ‘competition for those below 18 years.

‘And as if this was not enough he almost pulled the rug from under the feet of 1986 Seoul Asiad golf champion, Bromeo, in the competition for those below 21 years. Chiranjeev was deprived of the title by barely four strokes, the ultimate winner being Bromeo of the Philippines.

Chiranjeev has had a very good outing this year. He struck a bright patch when he emerged champion in the Amateur Golf Championship at Bombay in January. And two months later he clinched the title in the Calcutta Open.

Now Chiranjeev will make it just in time to join an Indian squad at Delhi for the French Open Amateur Golf Championship to be held from May 20 to 23. The other members of the five member squad will be Laxman (captain), Uttam Singh Mundi, Rajiv Mohta and Chandigarh boy Amandeep Johal.

The team will then fly to Wales for the British Open Amateur Golf Championship to be held from May 29 to June.
