BEIJING: Three quick goals in the space of five minutes enabled hosts China post a 30 victory over India in the Asian games ‘women’s hockey league competition here.

China posted their fourth straight victory and will now clash with South Korea on ‘Oct 2, in the crunch encounter to decide the gold medal in the six team round robin.

The Indians, who have two points from four matches and a match in hand against Singapore, defended their citadel zealously for nearly fifty minutes but ultimately crumbled in the face of severe and continuous raids by the agile Chinese forwards.

‘Wu Yanzhen sounded the board in the 49th minute with a clean hit that broke the deadlock.

Chen Jianbin could have helped China ‘open the account early in the second half ‘when she substituted captain Yang Honbing. After working her way deep inside the Indian half, Jianbin passed the ball 10 Wang Yonhong, who hit it wide.

India conclude their engagements on ‘Oct 2, against Singapore

China have an account to settle with South Korea, their opponents in the last league match, after having lost to them in the final of the intercontinental cup at New Delhi last November.
