NEW DELHI: Sun Sumei of China, who won gold and silver in the Asian track and field meet here in November last year, has tested positive in a dope test taken on her.

She is in danger of being stripped of her medals and being banned from athletics by the international amateur athletic federation.

Sun Sumei’s urine sample taken immediately after she beat India’s shiny Wilson to the 800 meters crown on November 16 contained higher testosterone content than normal, according to information available here.

‘She later anchored her team to silver in the 4 x 400 meters relay.

The test was conducted by Mitsubishi laboratories of Tokyo.

Confirming the receipt of the report, an official of the amateur athletic federation of India said it had been passed on to the Asian Amateur athletic association for taking necessary action. PTI.
