NEW DELHI(PTI): Chandigarh will be the venue for the Davis Cup semifinal between India and Australia to be played on September 2426.
R.K.Khanna, President of All India Tennis Association, said here July 29, Chandigarh got the nod after consultations with players, Ramesh Kirshnan and Leander Paes, and nonplaying captain Naresh Kumar, Christopher Stokes, International Tennis Federation’s Director of commercial operations, will visit Chandigarh for site inspection shortly, Khanna added in a Press note.
Playing in the world group after six years, India earned the night to Clash with ‘old foe” Australia after pulling off an upset 32 win against favorites runners up of 1991, France in France.
In 1987, India had beaten Australia in Australia with a similar 32 margin to make their third entry to the Davis cup final where they went down 05 to Sweden.
