LAHORE, Pakistan: Canadian Sikhs attacked Indian police officials at Lahore. A scuffle between Indian Embassy staff and visiting Canadian Sikhs took place at Gurdwara Dehra Sahib on the June 12th morning. It is reported that the Sikhs from India and other countries including Canada reached here on Wednesday. According, to reliable sources, three Indian Embassy officials visited the Gurdwara in order to look after the Indian nationals. Meanwhile, some Sikhs of Canadian nationality arrived there and had an exchange of hard words and ensued two of the Embassy personnel, says something dangerous came while one was caught in Manhattan. Soon police and officials of Evacuee Trust reached the scene and one yatri was taken into custody. Police and other officials were tight lipped about the incident and no further details were available accept that someone from the Indian Embassy staff had requested the administration that Sikhs of Indian nationality should be kept separate from the Sikhs of other nationalities to avoid the last years incident where some Indian officials were beaten-up. This request was turned down by the administration on the ground that this was not feasible, given the large number of yatries. Police are still investigating the incident.
