About 300 Sikhs joined a special congregation last month at Cambridge Gurughar to celebrate the birthday anniversary of the sixth Nanak, Guns Hargobind Sahib. A unique aspect of this function was that the whole service and Kirtan’ performance was presented by the youth of the area. About 40 boys and girls participated in Shabad singing in prescribed Ragas. Bibi Shamjit Kaur acted as M.C. The Sangat and the Gurdwara management were much impressed by the role of the youth.
Gurdev Singh Sangha spoke about the Ghalughara of 1984 and the Sikh struggle for in dependence, Prof, Pritam Singh Grewal emphasized the need of educating the ‘North American Sikh youth about the Sikh philosophy, universal values and rich history with a view to enhancing their self-esteem.
