SAN FRANCISCO: Telephone calls to India cost less since early this year. The American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) one of the biggest long distance companies in the world) said rates to India and other countries had been reduced.

The new rates ‘are $4.20 (between 6 am to 6 pm) for first minute, and $2.40 for every additional minute. Discount time rates is $2.72 (6 pm to 6 am) for the first minute and’ $1.66 for the additional minute.

Earlier MCI announced cut rates to Asia, Western Europe, the Pacific and Canada. According to this plan, calls in Pacific may be made to Australia, New Zealand and eight Asians for 79 cents a minute from 10 pm to 2 pm the next day, and all weekend, calls to Canada are priced at 19 cents a minute from 5 pm to 8 am weekdays and all weekend.
