More than 4,000 cabs converged on City Hall in New York Oct.26, as their drivers demanded better police protection following the killing of a driver, the 35th to be killed this year. Following the demonstration that snarled traffic during Manhattan’s evening rush hour, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said his departments already targeting bandits who prey on cabbies. Mr. Kelly said that a task force formed in April has made 134 arrests for taxi related crimes, including 13 for murder.
