NEW DELHI: A tantrik from Bombay conducted prayers in secret for Buta Singh near Nigambodh Ghat.

The tantrik rituals took place in a room to which outsiders had no access. Some followers of the tantrik questioned anybody who came. A constable from the Kashmiri Gate police station was on constant guard.

Havan was performed outside the room, in a little enclosure enclosed by a kanath. The Bombay tantrik, Mangal Dev was assisted by 10 Brahmin priests at Ghat No: 30 near Nigambodh Ghat.

“It was held for the victory of Buta Singh and the Congress I” said Yogi Surendra Nath, who organised the pooja. Mistaking this reporter for an aide of Mr. HLK.L. Bhagat the yogi said: “Buta Singh has promised Rs 1 crore for the pooja.”

A message was sent to Bhagat also, “Yogi Surendra Nath said. “But he was obsinate.

The yogi says he organized a meeting with Singh with several priests at Prachin Bhairon Mandir in Kalkaji on November 14. This tantrik pooja began on November 12 and lasted till November 28.

Have you been sent by Gopalji the Yogi asked this reporter. “Yes, The Yogi then summed the tantrik, Mangal Dev. “He has come from Bhagat Ji,” the Yogi told the tantrik.

“It is too late for him now,” Mangal Dev said, “I have no time” The yogi said now that the pooja had been done, “nobody can beat Buta Singh. Rajiv Gnadhi will form a Government at the Centre.

Buta Singh last visited the place about 5 am on November 16. The police and several hawkers who sleep nearby confirm this.

After a while Yogi Surendra Nath came around. “I have spoken to the tantrik. He has agreed to do pooja for Bhagat. Tell him to come at midnight to the Prachin Bhairon Mandir. Bring 50.” As this reporter noted Rs 50,000 he was corrected. “It must be Rs 50 lakh, he said.

Yogi Surendra Nath then handed over a video cassette of Buta Singh’s November 14 meeting with several pandits.

“Show this to Bhagat” he said. “It will show that I mean business.” Saying that, he drove off in his Maruti.

Buta offered his head for the foot of Dev Raha Baba to be placed upon it for his electoral success. HE LOST.

Five hundred years ago Guru Nanak came to destroy such superstitions and brahmin cults and idol worship. Not only have the brahmins fooled the ignorant people for thousands of years earlier, their hold today can be ganged by such nonsense. The very Gandhi who had talked of taking India to the 21st century also promoted the cult by unashamedly having the Baba put his foot on the then PM’s head.
