The local people have since distanced themselves from the militants, ABSF source said that they have received numerous calls from the locals expressing their “gratitude” for smashing these hideouts and keeping the area free from militancy, Sopore was once regarded as a militant stronghold.

The reports said the BSF launched an operation in Kralteng area of Sopore following information about the presence of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Mitha Antoo. While the militant could not be found, his domestic servant Mohammad Yousuf Shiekh led them to a hideout where the BSF recovered one gun.
