CHANDIGARH: Mrs. Jaswant Kaur, wife of the slain Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Beant Singh, on Sept, 6 virtually gave her blessings to the interim Chief Minister, Mr. Harcharan Singh Brar.
The Congress MLAs met at the residence of the assassinated Chief Minister in the evening after the immersion of parts of the ashes at Kiratpur Sahib earlier in the day.
According to the sources, Mrs. Jaswant Kaur appealed to the MLAs to abide by the wishes of the Prime Minister, Mr.P.V. Narasimha Rao, in the nomination of successor to Mr. Beant Singh.
Senior party leaders interpreted it as support to Mr. Brar from the family of Mr, Beant Singh.
