GUWAHATI: The All Bodo Students Union-Bodo People’s Action Committee combine appealed to the masses to prepare themselves for another round of sacrifice to achieve their demand for Bodoland.
Addressing a huge rally at the Judges Field here recently, ABSU President S.K.Bwismutiary said that they would not settle for anything less than a separate Bodo State. Thousands attended the rally, called by the ABSU-BPAC combine, rains and inclement weather notwithstanding.
The ABSU President said that they had arrived at the end of their i tether,
He said that the Prime Minister had assured him that the demands would be looked into. “The Prime Minister said that tribal aspirations, | especially of the Bodos and the Jharkhandis, are a challenge to him, and he would try to solve them,” said Bwismutiary. He stated that they would be leaving for Delhi shortly to follow up their demand with the Prime Minister.
Apart from ABSU-BPAC, other parties and organizations which attended the recent gathering included the CPI(M), CPI, ASDC, AJYCP, and several other ethnic organizations like the Lalung Darbar, Rava Students Federation etc, Significant absentees were the Congress, Asom Gana Parishad, Natun Asom Gana Parishad and the BJP.
