BHUBANESWAR: The BJP is prepared to face elections rather than allow the Congress Government at the Center last its full term as it would lead to “economic doom” which was worse than general elections.

Briefing newsmen Vice President Sunder Singh Bhandari said that even though it was a “hard choice” to face the electorate the national issue had become so complex that the present Government was unable to tackle it.

Bhandari said that there was “no hope on the Government to help improve the lot of the common man as it was in no position to do so.

He said that the executive was of the view that the problem of illegal migrants from Bangladesh was assuming dangerous proportions as stated by party President Dr.Murli Manohar Joshi in his opening remarks.

Bhandari said that the national executive felt that the Bharat Bandh of Nov.3 organized by the BJP had an “overwhelming response” but criticized the Left Front Government of West Bengal the Janata Dal Government of Bihar and the Congress Government at the Center for letting “lose all kinds of oppression to make the bandh a failure.”

He said it was probably for the first time that all other political parties joined together to oppose the BJP “but failed to jolt the bandh as it was supported by the common man.”

Dr. Joshi was critical of the Centers attitude in tackling the problem of Jammu and Kashmir Punjab and infiltration from Bangladesh which was a “grave threat to the economy of India and peace and amity in the Indian society.”

Dr. Joshi lambasted the Government on the proposed withdrawal of Indian troops from Siachen Glacier and said this was “shocking” considering how many soldiers had sacrificed their lives defending it.
