DHAKA, Nov. 30, Reuter: Bangladesh President Hossain named a vice-President and expanded his Cabinet by seven new ministers.

State-run Bangladesh television interrupted its evening news bulletin into announce that Law Minister, AKM, Nurul Islam had been sworn in.as Vice-President.

Ershad also administered oaths to seven new ministers, four state ministers and six deputy ministers in.an unscheduled ceremony, it said.

A Presidential aide told Reuters Ershad was expected to shuffle his Cabinet again and might drop some key ministers before he allocated jobs to the new incumbents.

Islam, 66, a former Supreme Court Judge, had been Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.

“I am indeed grateful to you, sir he said as he shook hands with Ershad soon after being sworn in as the country’s third vice-President in 16 years.

Among the seven new ministers are former Ershad advisers Mohammad Sayeduzzaman, retired Air vice Marshal, AK. Khondker and Mohbubur Rahman.
