SRINAGAR: Life in the Kashmir valley remained at stand-still on the fourth day on the Hazzratbal issue despite a call by the All Party Hurriyat Conference to violate the indefinite bandh call given by its pro-independence faction, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.

The Hurriyat call evoked partial response as shops and banks remained closed. Offices registered nominal attendance.

JKLF militants opened fire at Khanyar, Daribal and Gojwar in downtown Srinagar to enforce the hartal. Three defiant shopkeepers got bullet injuries at these places. Two policemen were injured at Khanyam where JKLF militants opened fire. They also fired shots to stop inter-district bus services at Batmaloo bus stand.
