‘CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has reinstated those police officials including superintendent, Mr, Surjit Singh, who was suspended following the police firing on the agitating members of All India Sikh Youth Federation at Nakodar last month. Besides the S.P,, those who were suspended included Mr. Gopal Singh, DSP and Inspector Harinder Pal Singh, ‘While Mr, Surjit Singh’s place of posting has not been announced yet, orders for the posting of Mr. Gopal Singh as DSP. of Ajnalain Amritsar have been issued. The orders for the revocation of the Charges were passed by Mr. Sunjit Singh Barnala, Four persons had died in the Nakodar firing incident, The incident was followed by disposal of the victims? Bodies by the officials which resulted in their suspension and transfer of SSP, Jullundur, Mr. Azhar Alam. It was reported that the orders to dispose of the bodies had come from the State Headquarters at Chandigarh. Meanwhile, it is learned that case of murder under section 302 of Cr.P.C, registered ‘against two Inspectors Mr. Gurdev Singh and Surinder Pall Singh in ‘connection with the killing of Mr. Navdeep Singh, an activist of All India Sikh Youth Federation, Tamm Taran earlier this week, has been withdrawn, An order to this effect was also issued by the CM.
