CHANDIGARH, India: Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Mr. Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Kuldip Singh Vadala together with more than 200 other persons in Punjab have been arrested by the Punjab police in a state wide offensive against those suspected to be aiding and abetting Sikh freedom fighters. Chief Minister, Barnala announced the arrest of rival Akali leaders.

He said that they have been detained under the national security act. Mr. Parkash Singh was taken into custody from his residence and taken to Patiala jail. Mr. Gurcharan Singh was detained at his village Tohra in Patiala districts and has been lodged in Burail jail. Mr. Ajaib Singh Sangha, of the Phagwara circle of rival Akali Dal was also arrested at Phagwara, besides in a predawn swoop more: than 100 activists of A.I.S.S.F. and a few others were also taken in custody.
