HYDERABAD: The two rival committees of Muslims on Babri masjid have decided to bury the hatchet and launch a joint struggle to press their demand for the reconstruction of the demolished mosque in Ayodhya.

The rival Babri Masjid committees led by Salahuddin Owiasi and Syed Shahbuddin, former MP will for the first time share a public platform in Hyderabad on December 6, when they will address a public meeting on the occasion of the third anniversary of the demolition.

The public meeting will also be addressed by Mr, Ibrahim Sulieman Saith, MP, Moulana Abdul Aziz, and vice president Jamat-e-Islami, Mohammed ‘Azam Khan of Samajwadi Party and representatives of other organizations.

The Babri masjid movement had split nearly 1992after the groups developed differences on the question of future course of action. While Syed Shahbuddin continued with his Babri Masjid Movement Coordination Committee, Salahuddin Owais along with his supporters like Shahi Imam Syed Abdullah Bukhari Jauncheda parallel organization called all India Babri Masjid Action Committee. It will be for the first time that a number of prominent Muslims leaders will be coming on the same plat form on this issue.

Political observers say that the holding of a meeting with the involvement of all the groups just a few months before the Lok Sabha election can have far reaching implications on the political scene in the country.
