CALCUTTA (PTI): The Intemational Community has appealed to save writer Taslima Nasreen who is facing a death threat in her country, Bangladesh, for her views on women and religion.

Although it. was the duty of the Bangladesh government to protect the life of Taslima, yet a worldwide campaign was necessary to ensure her safely, said Ananda Shakar Ray, President of the pools, essayists and novelists (pen) all India Center. “The lady is completely helpless in her Dhika residence. She had already lost her job as a medical Practitioner and her passport had been impounded,” he said.

The fundamentalists in Bangladesh announced an award Of Rs 50,000 for her head and set OCcL9 as the deadline.
