NEW DELHI: Australia and the West Indies have agreed 10 participate in the World Cricket Series for the Jawaharlal ‘Nehru Cup in October November this year.

Confirming their participation Mrs. Sheila Kaul, chairperson of the organizing committee said here that the championship would now commence on October 17 and conclude on November 2.

The championship has been prepended by more than 10 days so that both Australia and the West Indies could honor their commitments.

An official of the organizing committee said that the West Indies would leave on November 3 to reach Toronto in time for their match on Nov 5, “Similarly, Australia will be back home on time to receive New Zealand,” the official added.

‘According to the organizers, advancing of this championship means preponing of the three nation tournament in Sharjah ‘from October 18 10 27. “We are in touch ‘with the Cricket Benefit Fund Series Organizers and they have agreed in principle to alter the dates,” said the official Recognized by the International Cricket Conference (ICC) the contest will be held on a round robin basis. The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals. The third and fourth positions would be determined on the basis of a match between the losing semifinalists.

The final will be held at Eden gardens (Calcutta) where winners will be presented trophy depicting a rosebud.

In addition to the Cup the winners will get 340,000 runners up $25,000 third placed team $15,000 and fourth placed side 510,000.:
