NEW DELHI: General Atinder Pal Singh of the Khalistan Liberation Organization was formally arrested on April 22 for his alleged involvement in the alleged conspiracy to assassinate Indira Gandhi and destabilize the country on April 22.

Atinder Pal Singh is one of the four persons charge sheeted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 2 in the so called Indira Gandhi murder conspiracy case. (WSN Apnil 14) Charged with Atinder Pal Singh are United Akali Dal Chief Simiranjit Singh Mann, and two Bombay based college Professors Dalip Singh and Jagmohan Singh (Tony).

SP.Khanna the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who passed the arrest orders when the Khalistani leader was produced before him in Tibhar Central Jail in connection with five other cases. He also issued an order to the SIT to provide Atinder Pal Singh the copies of the charge sheet and other documents in Punjabi.

Atinder Pal Singh complained’ that he was shackled hand and foot contrary to the instructions of the Supreme Court regarding under trial prisoners.

He also moved an application before S.L. Khanna to appoint R:S. Sodhi as his counsel at State expense.
