HAKA, Jan. 17, Reute: At least 15 pilgrims drowned when a boat carrying them was in a collision and capsized in a river north of Dhaka, yesterday, police said.

They said the pilgrims were on their way to Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka, to attend a three-day Biswa Ejtema.

Rescuers recovered 12 bodies from the Kola river last night and were still searching for three others police told reporters.

More than 100,000 devotees from Bangladesh and 38 other countries are attending the Ejtema, religious affairs ministry officials said.
