CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court last week stayed the arrest of Onkar Singh, elder brother ‘of the acting jathedar of the Akal Takhat, Prof Manjit Singh.
The Amritsar police had registered a case of sedition against Onkar Singh, for allegedly distributing literature of the Babbar Khalsa International, a militant outfit, at the World Sikh Sammelan in Amritsar on September 25 last. Staying the arrest of Onkar Singh till October 17, Justice Sat Pal, while hearing a petition for grant of anticipatory bail, directed the petitioner to move for bail before the sessions court of Amritsar.
