MEERUT, India: The district authorities deployed three battalions of the army to help the local administration in this strife torn town where scattered communal violence has claimed six lives in the renewed communal clashes.

Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary, K.K. Bakshi said in Luck now that indefinite curfew was clamped in areas covering Delhi Gate, Qusari Gate, Bashandi, Brahmpuni, Transper Nager, and parts of Civil Lines following group clashes and’ shooting incidents. But he said one person was killed by 2 violent mob and his ten year old son stabbed: Last night a woman and her grandson died of gunshot wounds after being trapped in a group clash. A forty year old man who was cycling from Multan Nagar to Kankar Thedi was killed by a violent mob. His son was tied and thrown in a nearby well.

The trouble started following reports of explosion. Police swing into action and rounded up some people. Three member ministerial team last night toured the various localities. The team also met prominent citizens.
