The draw gave Argentina, who had scored an upset win over India Thurs day, three points from as many matches, and more importantly put the spanners in Holland’s semifinal path.

Holland, placed second in the pool with five points, are yet to play India and defending champions Australia while Argentina have two more matches—against France and the Soviet Union.

In the other matches, West Germany drubbed Ireland 4-0 while Australia thrashed the Soviet Union 3-0.

West Germans had no difficulty in trouncing Ireland. Olympic silver medalists West Germany lead pool ‘B’ with six point but are placed second on goal average.

The last match turned out to be the most exciting one, Come-back specialists’ Argentines showed their iron wills ‘once more, making a splendid recovery after trailing for major part of the second half.

‘An Early penalty corner conversion by Floras Jan Bovelander, who along with Ignacio Escude of Spain led as the maximum goal scorers, was neutralized by Carols Geneyro, who made no mistake with the ‘stroke’ which came their way in the 33rd minute.

However, the real fight back was witnessed in the second session. Even though Holland took a two-goal lead with goals from mare Delissen and Bovelander, Gutsy Argentines bounced back into the game and held the European champions 3-3.

This was made possible by Fernando Ferrera and Doherty. While Ferrera reduced the margin and Doherty, substituted for Carols Geneyro late in the session, netted the equalizer barely two seconds from time to carve out a dramatic draw for his team.
