SANFRANCISCO: Hon. Judge: Bernard J. Hombach of Immigration Court granted political Asylum to Jagjit Singh. Asylum hearing was held on April 21, 992 at San Francisco.
Mr. Jagit Singh was propaganda secretary of All India Sikh Student Federation of Jalandhar District who came to USA on July 3 1991 without any documents. He was released on bond pending the political asylum hearing.
Judge Hornbach tested the credibility of Mr. Jagit Singhs statement in court and viewed the body scars. Based on applicant story of past persecution torture harassment discrimination based on religion race and political opinion Judge granted him political asylum in USA. The immigration counsel waived the right to appeal.
Applicant was represented at trial by Mr. Jon Wa and Mr. Randhir S. Kang attorneys at law. Mr.Randhir S. Kang is also an associate of eminent immigration lawyer Mr. Mohinder Singh of Lafayette California.
