NEW DELHI: Bhartiya Janata Party, Janata Dal and Left  party members in the Lok Sabha (lower House of parliament) demanded immediate arrest and extradition ‘of Warren Anderson, the chairman ‘of the Union Carbide at the time of the Bhopal gas tragedy, for trial in India in the gas leakage case.

The agitated members wanted to know from the government as to ‘what action it had initiated and whether it had taken up the matter with the United States.

AS they repeatedly pressed the government for a response, minister of state of parliamentary affairs P.R. Kumaramangalam, said that the government would obtain facts and inform the house,

Raising the matter during zero hour, CPI-M member, Malini Bhattacharya, said that the chief Judicial magistrate of Bhopal had issued a non-bailable warrant ‘against Anderson as he was an accused in the gas leak case ‘Urging the government to make a statement on the issue,
