NEW YORK, NY: Sikh leaders and luminaries and a wide cross section of the community from the tri State area came together at Phillipsburg, NJ to participate in the wedding of Amrik Singh S/o S. and Sardarni Mohinder Singh with Charandeep Kaur D/o S. and Sardarni Swaran Singh Matharu on August 6.
The groom Amrik Singh is a commercial artist who has won the admiration of the community with his pleasant demeanor and his Sewa in the Richmond Hill Gurdwara.
Giani Gurdeep Singh the Head Priest of the Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond Hill presided over the Anand Karaj at which Kirtan, the recitation of holy hyms from the Guru Granth Sahib was per formed by Bhai Gurmail Singh a ragi of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
Bhai Jiwan Singh gave a rendering of the hymn ‘Pita Mata Ki Asis … . ” Giani Harpal Singh the Granthi of the Garden State Sikh Association in Bridgewater NJ was also present for the wedding.
- Jagjit Singh Mangat the President of Sikh Cultural Society, Satwant Singh Saddhar the Presi dent of Garden State Sikh Association of NJ and Prit pal Singh Khalsa the General Secretary of the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Glen Rock. NJ represented their organizations in the ceremony.
A large number of Sikh youth were also present at the wedding, in which to quote a speaker on the occasion, not only is the groom to be congratulated but also the bride who is married to a person whose Sewa to the community, and adherence to the faith and fine values would in deed make one feel quite confident of good tidings in the future.
