BAHRAIN (PTI) :All Indians residing in the quake-hit Egyptian capital Cairo, are “safe.”

There is no report of any casualty or injury from the Indian community,” Indian Embassy sources in Cairo told PTI on the phone from here.

However, the sources said, there were reports of cracks in some buildings inhabited by Indians, who number nearly 650 including embassy staff.

Massive rescue operations were continuing and civil authorities were working round the clock to clear debris of collapsed buildings and search for survivors, a local resident contacted by phone from here said.

According to latest reports, at least 450 people have perished in Monday’s quake, the worst ever witnessed by Egypt.
