Amritsar: Akali Dal has announced its new program to revive the ‘Dharam Yudh Morcha’ which was interrupted by the wanton Army invasion of the Golden Temple in the first week of June 1984. Five High Priests will lead the peaceful procession to Delhi after Holla Mohalla festival in March to make the central government withdraw the occupation Army from Punjab, restore civil liberties, repeal draconian laws, release all Sikhs, withdraw all trumped up cases and accept the demands outlined in the Anandpur Sahilb Resolution.
The ‘Dharam Yudh Morcha’, it may be recalled was launched on July 19, 1982 by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale to protest against the illegal arrest of Baba Tharan Singh and Bhai Amrik Singh, President. All India Sikh Students Federation. Akali Dal adopted this Morcha on August 4, 1982 and pledged to continue it till the acceptance of Anandpur resolution in. To defame the Morcha that was daily gaining momentum, the ruling party injected in measured doses violence and put the blame on the struggling Sikhs. Violence was let loose to justify the long drawn out plan of destroying the Akal Takht. The purpose was to strike at the roots of Sikh religion in order to finally assimilate it in Hinduism.
