New Delhi: There are strong indications that Akali leaders will be released shortly, and elections to the Panjab Assembly will be held in March along with other States where elections are due. It is still not clear whether only the leaders will be released or general amnesty for all Sikhs detained in jails
Or facing trials will be declared in order to prepare the climate for solving the Punjab problem. For the proper climate it is imperative that the Army should be immediately withdrawn, black laws repealed, all cases withdrawn, all Sikhs released and civil liberties restored.
