CHANDIGARH: Harcharan Singh Ajnala Congress (I) member elected from Ajnala will act as the pro tem speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He would be sworn in to the office by the Governor Surendra Nath at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Ajnala will administer oath of membership to the newly elected legislators of the House at the start of the budget session on March 16.
According to reports emanating from the ruling party Ajnala is likely to be elected speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Khushaley Congress a member from Grurdaspur is tipped for the post of deputy speaker.
